HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PILGRIM JEWELLERY

We often receive enquiries about the best way to keep Pilgrim jewellery clean.

Pilgrim's aftercare advises that you wash your jewellery in water and leave it to dry, never leave it a humid place and don't get perfume or make up on it, if you do again wash with water.

Whilst this is great advice it doesn't solve the problem of age taking the sheen off your jewellery. After a few years costume jewellery can start to dull and lose its original shine however, thanks to a clued up customer, we now have a solution that works to bring your Pilgrim jewellery back to life. We'd like to stress that Pilgrim do not advocate the following and neither Pilgrim nor Boutique Gifts can be held responsible for the outcome of your experience, however, we have tried this ourselves and it has worked for us.

so here goes!!

You will need:
  • Toothpaste (baking soda toothpaste works the best),
  • Clean clothes(lint free works best)
  • An old toothbrush.(or a new one, we're not fussy)
Apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste onto a soft cloth and gently rub the toothpaste onto your Pilgrim jewellery.

Use the toothbrush to get at those hard to reach areas or for stubborn stains. (dont do this too hard though as Pilgrim jewellery is plated and you will wear off the top layer)

With a clean cloth rub the toothpaste off your Pilgrim jewellery. Give the jewellery a good rinse under the tap and dry with a cloth as best you can and leave it to air dry.

Use another clean cloth to buff to make it sparkly again.

Please remember that Pilgrim jewellery is plated so don;t do this too often however by following the following tips your jewellery should stay looking great for ages.
  • Avoid storing in bathrooms/damp places as this will cause the Pilgrim jewellery to oxidise more rapidly.
  • Allow your perfume/ deodorant to dry before putting your Pilgrim jewellery on.Don;t spray it on the jewellery.
  • Wash your Pilgrim jewellery in water and leave to dry to keep it clean.
  • Don't wear Pilgrim jewellery in the shower or when bathing.
  • Always store safely preferably in the little organza bags that your jewellery is supplied with.
So there you have it, we hope it works for you, let us know how it goes!!
